This past weekend I found myself back in Sandbridge – my happy place – for an engagement shoot! AND I got to explore a new place that I am IN LOVE with – Back Back Wildlife Refuge! Working with Dana and Matt was an absolute dream session in every way. When I first met with Dana and Matt to discuss their wedding plans and begin planning their engagement session, Dana knew right off the bat that Sandbrige was the place for her. She’s from Virginia Beach, but the couple live in Richmond. They enjoy trips home on the weekends and visiting the beach as much as possible.
Dana and Matt are such a fun loving and happy couple! They met through work when Dana was interviewing for a job, and Matt was the one interviewing her. Needless to say, Matt left quite the impression on Dana after the interview and they began dating the following year. Their proposal in Boston is one of the sweetest!! After a day of walking around (with the ring in his pocket), Dana had accidentally rerouted their plans and Matt found himself stumped with that to do! So that evening as they were headed out for dinner, Matt asked Dana if she had everything. She insisted she did and they needed to head out so they didn’t miss their reservation. Matt asked again and again. Finally after the third time, and Dana insisting that YES she had everything, Matt grabbed her hand and said “what about this?” with the ring in his other hand. How sweet is that???
After we wrapped up at Little Island Park we headed down the street to Back Bay NationalWildlife Refuge. I’ve been there once before for a field trip with my son, so I was super excited to get back for their session! Such a gorgeous place!!
This warm, golden light was EVERYTHING!! Fave!! Dana and Matt are a very active couple! Dana has danced since she was 2 and was on the ECU Dance Team while in college! She now teaches dance! Matt is an avid runner and sports enthusiast! Then they aren’t running or dancing they enjoy walks on the Tyler Potterfield Bridge in Richmond. Dana’s makeup was gorgeous for her session!! She did her wedding day trial with Sydney Balmer of SB Makeup Artistry prior to the session – something I highly recommend!! There’s nothing like a sunset over the bay!! GORGEOUS!!
For their wedding day in June of 2019, these two are heading to The Chrysler Museum of Art for their ceremony and reception. I have no doubt that it’s going to be a beautiful day full of sunshine, love and joy!
