Is it sad to say it’s been one of those weeks, but it’s only Tuesday??? In reality it’s been one of those months!! A SUPER busy November that ended with a wonderful Thanksgiving, diving right into the holiday season, a trip to Key West for my birthday (whoop!), and here we are just 8 days until Christmas!!! And in the mix of all of that I kind of forgot to hit publish on a blog post that’s been in the queue for WEEKS. My bad. But here it is, a Virginia Beach engagement session that involves some gorgeous fall foliage AND the beach – two of my favorite things!!
Meet Karen and Zach!! We ventured to First Landing State Park last month on a GORGEOUS fall day for their engagement session. We walked and talked, and I became BFF’s with their dog, Piper – because when you’re the one holding the treats that’s the natural next step. If I had to pick one word to describe these two it would be genuine. They are so genuine in their kindness towards others, in their friendship with one another, and in their love for each other. They are super easy going and spending time with them felt like hanging out with friends.
Karen and Zach met at a party in 2016 and began dating several months later. Zach says he had some pretty big signs early on that Karen was the one, but it wasn’t until a trip to Mexico that he knew for sure. Surviving foreign travel and crazy airports and still managing to get along is usually a pretty good sign, I’d say! For Karen, it was all the the little things and how she could completely be herself with him. After moving in together she was certain he was the one. Zach proposed in September of this year. He’d taken several weeks to weigh his options on how to propose – big gathering of family and friends…or something private with just the two of them. In the end he opted for just the two of them. After a very restless night of sleep, he woke Karen up before sunrise and asked her to go to the beach with him. So up the went, with Piper, a beach blanket, and coffee to watch the sunrise. And in a moment when Karen looked in the other direction, Zach went for it. Karen admits that some of the details are a little fuzzy because she couldn’t stop smiling and giggling and says it was the best moment ever.
After spending some time in the gorgeous fall foliage, we headed over to Chicks Beach, to the same spot where Zach proposed! Lemme tell you, it was COLD that day!! But Karen and Zach were total troopers and we had a great time taking pictures and watching the sun set.
Karen and Zach will be married in October of 2020 at The Water Table in Virginia Beach. I can’t wait to travel back from Georgia for their wedding and to get to see them again!! Congratulations to you both!! I hope this season of engagement is tons of fun for you guys!!
