week 3 | this is our life | freeze time

FILED IN:

Little Ones

This week’s this is our life {let’s do 52} prompt was “this makes me wish I could freeze time”.  There are moments every day with my boys that make me wish I could freeze time – the good, the bad, and the ugly!  Today I sat down and looked through the images, picked the ones that really stuck out to me, and I am having a hard time deciding which one to submit!!   Here are my favorite moments from this week.  I would love for you to leave a comment and let me know which one is your favorite!! I have until Sunday to submit my shot for the week!!

These moments make me wish I could freeze time:

Jacob napping.  I told Erik the other day that every day it gets a little harder to get Jacob to take a nap.  I know eventually all kids out grow their nap time and it is a dreaded day for any parent! So when when Jacob finally settled down and fell asleep I took advantage of the the most peaceful thing ever.  I have always loved to watch my babies sleep.  I love the sounds they make and their little twitches or movements and wonder what they are dreaming about.
A boy and his dog.  Our sweet dog, Austin, will turn 12 this year!  I remember the day Erik and I got him as vividly as I remember my children being born.  He has been such a loyal companion and an awesome friend.  When the boys were little he wasn’t a big fan of them.  But as the years have gone by he’s warmed up to them (or accepted the fact that they weren’t going any where) and really enjoys all of the extra attention he gets from them now.  The other day as Austin was napping, Jackson eased down on the floor and just talked and talked to Austin about his day at school and how he was such a good pup.  Funny that at 11 (77 in dog years!) he’s still our puppy and we call him that every day! Maybe that’s why he has so much energy still!
Quiet moments.  These next two were taken at the same time.  As I was preparing dinner the other night I suddenly realized how quiet it was – and both boys were downstairs!  Quiet is only something that  happens when my children are asleep or getting into trouble!  And quiet never happens in the evening! I stepped out of the kitchen and found Jacob glued to a movie and Jackson focusing on building a new car with the Legos.  They never even noticed that I had my camera out!

This week Jackson has been really focused on being a good helper.  I think its mostly due to Erik being out of town and leaving Jackson “in charge” . The other morning after getting himself dressed , Jackson declared that he was going to help Jacob get dressed.   I know Jacob is probably going to hate me for that first picture one day but it had to be taken! And I love how Jacob is talking to Jackson as he’s concentrating on getting Jacob’s socks on.  It was such a sweet moment and my heart totally melted.

So those are my images for the week.  Which one is your favorite?

I am a sucker for sleeping kiddos so I love #1 but #5 is probably the best freeze moment because you know that sweet brotherly love won’t last forever… At least in this pure sweet form
