Allison and Ed’s wedding at Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, VA this past weekend was one I won’t soon forget! I have been looking forward to their wedding since first meeting with them last year. I knew that a May wedding at the Chrysler would be beautiful and it definitely did not disappoint!
Allison and Ed have one of the sweetest love stories I’ve heard! They met when they were in 3rd grade at Norfolk Collegiate and began dating in 11th grade. So needless to say, their family and friends have been waiting on this day for a LONG time! Allison and Ed are a fun-loving, sweet, and super funny couple – everything I hope for when I photograph couples. I wish for laughter, joy, engagement sessions outdoors, and down-to-earth brides with big hearts for the people in their lives. This is Allison and Ed to a T! And not only do they have big hearts for the ones they love – but the ones they love have a BIG heart for Allison and Ed! That was so evident throughout the day as I heard the bridesmaids telling stories about Allison, the father of the bride expressing his absolute pride in his daughter for not only who she is as a person, but in her choice of a life partner, and the best man’s toast as he got a little choked up when describing his long time friendship with Ed. I love when a day is filled with all the happy tears!
The day started at The Main in downtown Norfolk. I love this hotel and the girls had a beautiful suite to get their hair and makeup done in. There was tons of laughter the entire time as Allison’s girls told funny stories about her. Any much like their engagement session, my cheeks were hurting from laughing and smiling so much! One of my favorite moments is when the bridesmaids see the bride fr the first time!! The laughs, smiles, and then the tears because they are SO happy for their sweet friend. Then come the guys! They got ready at Ed’s brother’s apartment very close to the Chrysler! Misty had such a blast with them as they took pictures! One of Allison and Ed’s priorities of the day was that they get to enjoy their cocktail hour. Opting to do a first look not only ensured they got that time with their family and friends, but also a ton more pictures!! We spent about 45 minute pre ceremony with just the two of them and about 20 minutes after the ceremony – because you have to have husband and wife pictures – and then off they went to celebrate! The Chrysler is such a gorgeous wedding venue!! I love having the opportunity to shoot here! All in all, it was truly a perfect day!! And no one deserves it more than the two of you! I am so beyond happy that I got to be there to witness the beginning of your next big adventure! Thank you a million time over for being so incredible! I hope this new adventure together gets better each and every day. Your joy is contagious and I absolutely loved being surrounded by it on your wedding day. Cheers to many more decades of love and happiness!! And please give The Colonel a snuggle from me!
