Mackenzie and Alex wanted an intimate wedding, celebrating family and their heritage with a meaningful ceremony and a fun, laid back reception. Their “I Do BBQ” wedding took place in the small South Georgia town of Tifton. In fact, they were married in the same church Mackenzie’s parents were married 40 years ago. How romantic and special is that??
Mackenzie and Alex have dated – and been engaged – long distance, so this day was extra special as they joined their lives together. They were the sweetest couple! They were both kind and incredibly thoughtful. Through every moment together and every detail of their day, you could tell that tradition and family are super important to them.
For their I Do BBQ wedding, Mackenzie and Alex chose a red, white, and blue backyard BBQ theme. It was adorable. It really felt like you were at a picnic in “Steel Magnolias”. They held their reception at Mackenzie’s aunt’s gorgeous home. Guests enjoyed local BBQ and a huge display of cakes and desserts. It was amazing!
Typically when I edit photos from a wedding and then choose them for the blog, I lean towards photos in color vs black and white images. I just always love the vibrancy of the venues and outdoors. But there was something so intimate and personal about the images of Mackenzie & Alex in the church that black and white just felt so powerful. Let me know what you think!
Mackenzie’s aunt gifted her a bracelet that had been handed down from her grandmother. It was such a sweet moment between family and incredibly special for Mackenzie to have that piece of her grandmother with her on her wedding day.
Mackenzie’s cousin is Jake, who referred me to her after I had such a fun session with him and his wife Julie! I LOVE referrals so much. They really mean the world to me when you recommend me to your family and friends.
